The Inspiration…

As a natural hair artist, there are times when creativity escapes me. In these moments, very little inspiration flows. Often it’s because of redundancy. Trends in natural hair can dominate so long they become staples. Most people prefer a style that is seen, tried and true. At most it is safe. However, that safety net blocks some remarkable hairstyling experiences. In preparation of the Fro’ Fashion Show, I was matched up with two amazing models. For this event, they were my muses. Their individual personalities dictated the styles I would create. Model Bertina Bailey exuded an unapologetic edginess that screamed Nu-locs to accentuate her semi-ceasar cut. While on the other hand, model K. Renee Iryss’ energy was genteel, soft and subtle. That nature resulted in a Kinky-twisted updo. I couldn’t ask for better models, who at their best, showcased polar opposite styles of Hotpeeznbutta…an experience available to all.
